Arrhythmia: It is hard to know if they are atrial or ventricular but because you are symptomatic, you should see your cardiologist for evaluation. You probably will need echocardiogram, Holter monitor and stress test.

is it normal to have lung irritation after swimming? why do my lungs feel irritated after i go swimming? inhaling deeply after i swim causes me cough. it goes away after a day or so. this happens if i swim in a pool or at the lake.

You : You may have a condition called hypersensitivity pneumonitis, which is a form of allergy to inhaled (usually organic) compounds in the environment. There are literally hundreds of compounds that can result in an allergic response within the lungs and cause symptoms such as cough, shortness of breath and fevers. A relatively common allergen is actually a type of mycobacteria that has a propensity to reside in hot tubs, pools and water pipes. Although you would not expect your symptoms to occur when you swim at the lake compared to at the pool if it is due to an allergen, there are other explanations that could result in this observation. For example, it may be that you are actually allergic to the mycobacteria that reside in your showerhead of the shower you take after you swim at either the pool or lake.

I recommend that you see a pulmonary or allergy specialist to make sure you do not have hypersensitivity pneumonitis. It is important to do this because left untreated, chronic hypersensitivity pneumonitis can lead to irreversible lung scarring and shortness of breath.

Yes: Chest tightness, shortness of breath, dry cough are considered classic symptoms of asthma. Please talk to your doctor regarding your symptoms.

See doc: Among other possibilities, asthma appears possible. See your doc for an exam and further tests as needed. Keep a log of symptoms, what brings them on, what helps, exercise helping or not and so on.

Possibly.: Chest tightness with exercise can be from a number of causes, the most serious being heart or lung problems.  If one experiences tightness, an immediate evaluation by your physician is warranted.  Exercise should be stopped until this evaluation occurs.

Maybe, maybe not: It might be possible that repeated rubbing of fabric against the urethra could cause pain. But this would be unusual. Assuming you are sexually active, you'll need to be concerned about herpes, if the sore area develops blisters or ulcers; or if you also develop discharge. Even with neither of these, see a doctor if pain doesn't clear up within 1-2 days.

Asthma: Chest tightness and wheezing are typical presentations of asthma. With your current symptoms, i would suggest you seek medical attention right away.

Need more info: Go and see a doctor if this persists.  Cannot possibly diagnose over internet without an exam and possibly some imaging studies after a full history and physical exam.. Hope you feel better soon.

Stop smoking: The lungs are very delicate, used to extract oxygen from the air and transfer it to the blood. Filling them with soot is very harmful. 4 years of smoking isn't enough to result in cancer but within a few weeks if giving up smoking, the chest tightness and abnormal mucus should stop.

why do my lungs feel heavy and sore and tight when i am standing up but normal when i'm lying down?

Heaviness: I don't think the discomfort emanates from your lungs, but would be more likely from the rib cage muscles that tense up while you're standing.and relax when you're lying down. Stress and tension may play a role. However if you're experiencing shortness of breath with exertion or have cough, wheezing or localized rib tenderness, see you physician for evaluation.
