Throat tightness: Anxiety CAN cause throat tightness. But so can a bad case of strep throat, viral pharyngitis, mononucleosis, or an allergic reaction - even some subacute allergy. Keep these things in mind before chalking it up to anxiety.

Throat: Certainly. If you are under a lot stress this can occur. But if it is going on for a while, wouldn't be a bad idea to be checked.

Yes but: Yrs, but so can medical conditions like heart attacks and allergic reactions (not trying to cause more anxiety!) - give your doctor a call. If you don't have one, and this is new for you, go to a clinic or ed right away.

Oral Amoxicillin: If they were going to appear, the signs of a severe penicillin allergy would be displayed within 30-60 minutes following an oral dose.  If there were no reactions after the second dose, you are not likely to have a severe reaction for that course of therapy.

Posssibly anxiety: You should get tested 4 allergies.  Is it only certain foods?  This is important for your md to know.  If it is more general, or random, it may be anxiety. You r probably now anxious about it & anxiety feeds itself & makes itself worse. Once physical causes r ruled out, find a therapist specializing in anxiety, esp. Exposure based treatment.  Ativan, xanax (alprazolam) etc are addictive and not best treatment.

Autonomic response: Similar to the answer about flushing; anxiety, worry, fear trigger autonomic (automatic unconscious) physiological chemical responses in our central nervous system (brain). Emotions have a vast array of somatic (body) effects: get to the underlying source of anxiety or at least develop some healthy coping alternatives: relaxation, meditation, breathing techniques,  visualization.

Various causes: Tightness in the throat area is a very general symptom that can occur in a variety of conditions . Certainly anxiety can cause this.  Do you have any other symptoms associated with this?  Did it come on suddenly or have you been experiencing this for awhile?  Recommend consulting your doctor for further evaluation if it persists. : Anxiety often results in these symptoms. GERD may cause throat irritation. Control GERD after discussion with your physician. Reduce anxiety with exercise and maintain a healthy sleep schedule  Watch for signs of nausea, vomiting and cough.

Unlikely event: In an active person if food enters respiratory tract you choke or for a very small particle you get violent cough Just don't worry , see your doctor . Only in debilitated bedridden person aspiration is possible due to tube feeding .

Sounds like you: might have esophageal reflux. This would give you the sensation in your throat and a tight chest. Make an appointment with a health care professional for evaluation, diagnosis and treatment. It will probably be easy and inexpensive to treat.
