Is it swollen: Sounds like it is swelling.  If this goes up your ankle get checked. Possible blood clot.

Cardiac?: It would be helpful if we know your age and other medical conditions (diabetes, cholesterol issue etc). But if you were over 40, I would suspect a coronary artery issue. It is best that you consult a cardiologist ASAP.  If one is not available, go to the ER. Better safe than sorry.

i have an intense tightness and pain on just the top of my left foot every morning, and it goes away after 20 minutes after i wake. what is this?

Many possibilities: Foot pain could be as a result of many different things. A thorough history and physical exam and possibly some laboratory and radiology exams are needed to determine the exact cause. Causes of pain may include: trauma (fracture, sprain, arthritis), infection, metabolic conditions (gout), musculoskeletal or biomechanical abnormality and neurologic conditions (neuropathy).

my left foot has been in a constant, painless but unpleasant cramp since friday. like someone is squeezing it really tight. any thoughts?

Accepted Answer

Possibly related to: shoes.  Be sure to wear shoes with adequate arch support and avoid sandals/flats.  You can use a heating pad to the area for some relief.  Massage may also help.

woke up with the last two toes on my left foot feeling tight and tingling and it's still happening feels like their really tight like and heavy! why?

Foot numbness: When nerves become numb they alter our perception of normal sensation such that many times the affected area feels tight or heavy. This is like when u go to the dentist and they "numb " an area with novacaine ,prior to working on it. I.e. Your lip feels heavy or tight

Possible compression: neuritis. If constant, see a podiatrist.

Depends: on cause of fluid.
Heart, lung, liver or kidney failure can result in fluid retention. These are serious and need evaluation. They are cheap and easy to evaluate.

Numbness: It appears you have a nerve root entrapment most likely at L4,5 and possibly S1,2 on your left side.
Try applying ice to your low back. Supportive shoes are important. You may want to see a back specialist.

Could have: Isolated neuroma (more than one possible) I would look at back issues like radiculopathy as cause as well.

Be seen: If you did not injure it but your foot is swollen and tender, I would sure be seen.  Possible causes could include an inflammatory or infectious process or even a blood clot.  An exam and appropriate studies can likely quickly determine the cause.
