Thyroid test: Tsh is a hormone released by the pitutary gland and is negatively cycled in response to thyroid hormone levels, high levels of thyroid cause a drop in TSH and vica versa.
The range of TSH is affected by physiological factors such as sleep , circadian variation, food intake and sleep but within the narrow range you quote
there is also variations due to measurement called interassay variation.

Normal: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, your result is in the normal range.
Have a healthy diet, exercise, drink plenty of water, have safe sex, if you do, and get HPV vaccine.

my dad is worried because his thyroid stimulating hormone (serum) is high (5.370) but free t4 (serum) is within range (14.80). please explain and help?

Ranges?: The TSH is slightly high but and free T4 of 14.80 (if that is not an error) is high.  You say his free T4 is normal, however if this the case, he may have what we call subclinical hypothyroidism.  Further testing may be needed (thyroglobulin antibody, thyroid peroxidase antibody) before any decision to treat can be made.

my tsh(thyroid) is 4.86 uiu/ml and my lh(hormones) is .992 miu/ml.these tests were done midcyle (menstruation).are these  normal ranges?

May not be normal: Tsh of 4.86 is slightly high, indicating that your thyroid level may be mildly low.  This should be repeated and a freet4 level done as well.  Most labs do not have lh assays that are sensitive in the low range.  The lh of .992 may be normal depending on where you are in your cycle.  Menstruation denotes the start of a cycle.  Midcycle would be 14 days before your next period, and lh would be high.

: There is no single lab test to document presence of PCOS but some hormonal assays which you haven't mentioned can aid in the diagnosis. Your mildly elevated DHEA-S value is suggestive. Physical activity throughout the day may lower it.You're low postprandial glucose suggests reactive hypoglycemia which means your body may inappropriately continue releasing insulin after ingesting carbs. i am a 23 year old female. i was told all of my hormones and thyroid levels are "within range" but i'm experiencing chronic tiredness, fibroids, sexual dis-function, no libido, and hair loss. my prolactin was elevated at 31.2.

Need thorough checkp: Fibroids may imply heavy bleeding, and anemia, fatigue, tiredness..Im not a Gyn  , you need one. Why is prolactine  high? Any meds? I would be concerned and agsin, best is to obtain a thorough gyn evaluation for correct diagnosis. And start treatment.

always normal menses but 3-6 days late for 5 mos straight. sudden facial/neck hair & depression. no pcos or thyroid issues. hormone labs fine except dhea-s at 297 (range=33-266). endo appt in feb but symptoms worsening. what are odds of adrenal tumor?

Don't wait til Feb: May be go to GP if not another GYN and get another blood test. Repeat hormone levels. R/O ovarian cyst? May need a abdominal sonogram .

Hyperthyroid: Some symptoms of hyperthyroidism are: feeling nervous, fast heartbeat, weight loss, feeling hot, trouble sleeping, feeling anxious, sweating heavily, muscle weakness, increased appetite, frequent bowel movement, shortened frequent period..Some hyperthyroid patients will have 1-2 symptoms, some have all and some have none of them at all.  The only way to know for sure is to get a blood test.
