i'm fairly sure i have both thrush and geographic tongue due to having the patches but also white lesions are starting to appear and are bleeding slightly?

Thrush is: TREATABLE whereas GEOGRAPHIC tongue is a NORMAL variant! Speak with your Primary Care Provider who may prescribe NYSTATIN mouth wash to see what effect this has...Your DENTIST may also provide some very helpful ideas!

See below: Thrush is white on the tongue and mucosa on the side and top and bottom of the mouth.  The geographic tongue is not caused by thrush and is benign.  It looks more like continents - thus the name.  If concerned, see your doc.

Exactly : You are right, there probably is some underlying cause.  Many of the conditions you are describing are more likely to occur if there is some type of compromise of your immune system.  I would start with a good medical check up including basis bloodworknto include a CBC and go from there.

Some times Yes: Geographic is the result of loss of hair like papilla on the tongue , may look scary but harmless  most of the time cause is unknown ,  or if it is due to lack of Vitamins   , chemotherapy  , drug reaction etc  papilla may grow back , in general  will be permanent.
