Lumbar puncture (LP): Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) bathes brain & spinal cord (cns). CSF may be abnormal in some diseases. In an lp, you are either on your side or sitting. Md feels lower back for interspace between 4th & 5th lumbar vertebrae, below end of cns. Lidocaine is injected. 3” hollow needle is inserted thru interspace & into sac holding CNS & csf. Md collects CSF (usually ~1 tsp) into 3-4 tubes. CSF sent to lab.

Nothing: Are your sure it was a lumbar puncture? A lumbar puncture should not cause 3 herniated discs. How old are you? If you take 100 people off the street age 40 and over...Mri of the lumbar spine will show some bulging or small herniations in many statistic wise.

Positional: In the side-lying position intracranial pressure as measured during lumbar puncture should be between 100 and 150 cm of water pressure. If pressure is measured while sitting upright, pressure level in fluid column should extend to base of skull (foramen magnum) but numerically will exceed 150. The rest of your question is unclear. Are you asking about a post-spinal headache?

3-5 cc: Usually routine analysis necessitates between 3 to 5 cc.
This is about half a teaspoon to one teaspoon.
Some conditions necessitate removing 2 teaspoons and in rare conditions such as hydrocephalus, 20-30 cc may be removed.

Could get headache.: It's not unusual to get a post-LP headache, which can feel pretty strong and heavy.  It's related to the volume of fluid removed, and is treatable.  Not a guarantee, but that could happen.  Most people tolerate them just fine.  Good luck with everything.

Nerve root: Sounds like the L5 (5th lumbar) nerve root on that side was irritated when the needle brushed by it. There are medications that will relieve the symptoms (e.g. gabapentin, pregabalin, Cymbalta, (duloxetine) etc.) but the doctor who gives you the Rx will probably also tell you that you need to wait 1-3 months to see if it gets better on its own. Not much can be done for any nerve injury except give it time.

Not Drops: When collecting fluid during a lumbar puncture, we don't exactly count drops of fluid. Rather, we count CCs (cubic centimenters).  Typically there are 4 tubes.  We collect only 1-2 cc in the first and 2-6 in the rest.  The amount collected depends on the purpose of the lumbar puncture.  Decreasing fluid pressure, having enough fluid for many lab tests are 2 reasons to draw off larger amounts.

"Normal"?: Having an LP isn't "normal;" it's done to rule in or out an ABnormality. Do the symptoms you report occasionally happen during an LP? Yes. The needle may brush past and stimulate a nerve root. You feel the sensation in the body part from which the nerve root transmits sensory input to the brain. I suppose rarely the needle injures the root but I've never had that happen.

Lumbar puncture: Yes, ordinarily you would be fully conscious.  An LP typically involves local anesthesia only.

i had a lumbar puncture yesterday (6/22) at 16:30. today at 11am i accidentally strained during sex orgasm triggering a pretty intense head pressure headache. it quickly subsided but i was left with a constant dull headache. should i be concerned?

: I will be concerned, since Lumbar puncture may have affected  your CerebroSpinal fluid ( ? leak), it was not a good idea to be sexualy active the same day, better to have rested 16-24 hours ,preferably Supine position, Please consult the Doctor who did your Lumbar puncture.
