Diarrhea: Cascara sagrada is an herb that has laxative effects. Taking this with alcohol is likely to cause significant diarrhea. I dont think it will interfere with birth control pills unless you took it at the same time and your bowels flushed the pill through your system so fast that it couldnt get absorbed. Best not to take the cascara.

No: Avoid taking this during pregnancy and breastfeeding. If you need something for constipation, you can drink more water and increase your fiber intake. Increase your activity level. Sit on the toilet twice a day, preferably one hour after eating to stimulate your bowels. If that doesn't work, docusate is recommended for constipation in pregnancy. It's over-the-counter.

Examination: Anxiety is most likely the cause of the palpitations and head pressure. To be sure have a blood pressure and heart check up for reassurance. Advice relating to your constipation can also be obtained at that visit.

Bowel movements: It sounds like this was a treatment to assist you having a bowel movement. None of those will cause harm but in the future a stool softener and increase water intake would probably be more pleasant.
