Accepted Answer

Muscular: Tenderness to the touch usually implies injury to rib or muscle.  Sometimes a muscle tear or injury can be very uncomfortable.  I would recommend trying a few days of an anti inflammatory (ie motrin, advil).

See below: It could be a muscle spasm, kidney stone, gas, etc.  If it persists, see your doctor.

Ribcage pain: This may be due to hurting ribs. Costochondritis (inflammation around ribcage joints) can cause this.

: hard to diagnose without exam. Pl get examined by your doc. In the meantime try Ibuprofen. Hope you feel better

Stick with the diet, avoid alcohol, control diabetes & cholesterol (if present). Discomfort as described may not be due to fatty liver, & deserves a physical exam & maybe x-rays from your doctor that we can't provide you here.

Could be: Any of the 100's of causes of abdominal pain.  Appendicitis, crohn's disease, kidney stones are most common.  It could even be cancer, so please go see a doctor.  Or it could be something superficial, such as shingles.

what could cause soreness on both sides of the waist? just tender when i bend left or right, nothing sharp. i have ibs-d is this a gut issue? i've had it for 2 weeks.

Musculoskeletal: Sounds musculoskeletal if triggered by bending. Hip or iliopsoas tendonitis may behave as such and among others. Would recommend a good exam with your doc and keep a log with activities and symptoms that may help in clarifying.

Depends: It could be related to your stomach, gall bladder, liver or intestines.  See your primary and get checked out.

Costochondritis ?: I would consider an inflammation of the rib where it joins the cartilage that joins the sternum (breast bone).

If you note the whites of your eyes or your skin turning yellow that should also prompt a medical visit.
