That can occur w PMS: Pms symptoms can include pelvic/ abdominal cramping, nausea,  bloating, weight gain, moodiness, irritability, pain ; swelling of breasts, feeling tired, insomnia, headaches, ^ acne, food cravings, ^ appetite, swelling of hands ; feet, dizziness, thinking less clearly, urinary sxs ; exacerbation of chronic conditions.

Possibly pregnant?: Nobody's perfect and no woman's menstrual cycles are perfect either.  Many factors, both internal and external, can affect your menstrual cycle, so this might be an unexplained, random occurrence.  However, if you've had sexual intercourse (or close to that) during this cycle, I recommend you repeat the HPT.  Even if it's neg., avoid OTC &amp; street drugs &amp; alcohol until your next  period.

Certainly possible : The differing brands of birth control pills can contain different dosages of estrogen as well as different type of progesterone. Change in either can be associated with breast tenderness

Maybe you need to: check for pregnancy.  If first test negative, then check again in 1 week.  It is always good to assume that you may be pregnant, since breast tenderness is one of the first signs of pregnancy.  If both tests are negative, and you have a period, then you know you are not pregnant.  Breast tenderness can also come from hormonal imbalance and overstimulation, or infection if it is just one breast.

Cysts?: Could be cystic.  Cysts can enlarge and cause discomfort.  Hope this helps.

Exam by physician: If you are having localized pain you should be examined by a doctor who can assess you better than we possibly can over the internet.  You may just have normal glandular tissue, or you may have a cyst or infection that requires treatment.
