i recently had a ct scan for my sinuses and it was discovered that there is a calcified tapeworm in my brain. i was told not to worry about it. but then again i am asking myself if this is not at all the cause of my headaches? should i be worried?

Dead and calcified..: If the tapeworm is already dead and calcified there is not much to do. There are many other possible causes of headache  from alcohol to not sleeping well, malaria, migraine, too much noise, pollution, smoke, stress and so on. Even Eye Strain. If the headache is persistent have a good headache work up with the PCP. But don't try heroics like going after a dead and calcified tapeworm in the brain.

Yes: The adult worm, taenia solium,  lives in the intestine. The larvae migrate from the intestine through the blood to the brain and other sites and form cysts, also known as cysticerci. The condition is known as neurocysticercosis.

These may cause cysts in the brains of infected humans.

No brain issue: Beef tapeworm is a localized issue and i suspect that you probably don't have it anymore.  But if you still bowel issues, you should get a stool examination again.

?Cysticercosis: Doubtful that there will be any future issues if you have been well for 14 yrs.  However, your problem is associated with epileptic seizures in many pts, and would be of value to have an updated eeg at some point, but unless you ever experience a seizure, would avoid meds until that point.  Statistically, you should do fine.

Possibly: If you had neuro-cysticercosis (the larvae of tapeworm that settles in the brain) and you were not treated, that can cause damage to the brain. It depends on how severe the infestation was, whether you were treated or not and what part of the brain is affected. This condition can also cause a form of epilepsy that can also affect memory. A ct scan of the brain can help answer these questions.

i have a severe parasite infestation along with the pork tapeworm. meds arent helping. they are in my brain now. not a joke. back of my neck. help plz?

Tapeworm : You need to be seen by an infectious disease physician, neurosurgeon. The treatment of complex and may require therapy that includes antiparastic meds along with anti-inf agents and in some cases neurosurgical therapy. You have an uncommon disease and should be seen in a large teaching hospital.
