Partially : As the dead skin sloughs off , pigment is lost and oftentimes the underlying kin is red (if the burn is significant).

Use aloe gel: most likely you peel anyways, but aloe gel will help you to sooth the area.

SUNTAN: The damage to your skin was done. Do nothing except moisturizer until gone. If redness is noticed after sun exposure, you may apply a thin layer of steroid cream to avoid peeling of skin,  you will notice the inflammation will go away.

Gentle washing: Gentle washing with a hypoallergenic cleanser  (such as Cetaphil ) and a soft washcloth will remove the peeling skin with less irritation than an acid containing peel would

See below: Depending on how severe the burn was it may take several days to a week and longer for a severe burn. Although the skin may return to looking normal, it has been damaged and repeated sunburn effect is cumulative and can lead to skin cancer. It's extremely important to use at sunscreen with SPF of 50 or more, even when it is cloudy or hazy outdoors.

I would avoid a chemical peel during this period while your skin is recovering for the acute injury cased by the tan, Instead hydrate your skin well and often, (I recommend either Epionce Medical Barrier Cream or SkinMedica TNS Ceramide Treatment Cream) and add a hydrating, broad spectrum antioxidant sunscreen of SPF30 everyday.
