i had a blood test done a while ago and i had a normal platelet count but a low mpv (6.3) and the only symptom i have is foamy urine. what could this ?

Test results: I doubt there is a connection between low platelet volume and your foamy urine. Did they check your urine itself? Or check your kidney function? Do you feel well? Any test can give falsely abnormal results, or results that are not in the normal range, but it doesn't really matter as long as you feel well. If you are well, don't worry. If worried, as to repeat the test, check the urine and kidneys.

i was diagnosed with sinusitis. blood results; platelets are a bit low. my symptoms are fever aches pains clear diherrea nausea. was my diagnosis true?

I do not know: Sinusitis diagnosis is made on clinical exam most often, and can be supplemented with a CT scan as well.  Certainly diarrhea and nausea are not often associated with diarrhea, but that does not mean you did not have a sinus infection on top of those symptoms as well.

husband has bleeding and scabbing shins, suspect low blood platelets? could this cause bipolar symptoms?

No connection: It is possible that in addition to whatever blood or skin disease he has he may also have emotional problems, but there is not a causation relationship. Also, who suspects low platelets? It's not a good idea for him or you to Dx. Training is needed to do this. He should have a good exam and use the results to decide treatment. I hope he gets these under control so you can enjoy life.

Follow up needed!: Good morning, the test results suggests some immune reaction or immune hyperactivity, but not enough to worry about. These may return to normal or get higher in numbers. Follow up by your doctor is suggested.

can my constant flu symptoms-body aches and fatigue- for past 5 mos. mean cancer? had many negative blood tests, only shows occasional low platelets.

Not likely: Not likely, however, fevers, weight loss and your symptoms as described in your question, make me want to do some addiitional  testing-- for viral disease, as mononucleosis, immune deficiency, Lyme disease.  If your primary doctor is not comfortable with your exam and history, may be reasonable to see an infectious disease doctor.   Feel better.

platelets count is 151 and wbc count is 4.0 are these normal for my age or should i be concerned as they are both low, my alkaline phosphate is 36 u/l  i have no symptoms i just did a general blood test like i do each year. i run and exercise a lot ?

Likely normal: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, your results are in the normal range.

Bleeding risk: Low platelets can mean an increase risk of bleeding.  Bleeding can even happen without good cause.  The lower the platelet count, the higher the risk for bleeding.  The bleeding can be nosebleeds, gum bleeding, heavy periods.  The most concerning bleeding would be bleeding inside the skull.  This is unusual, but would likely cause a headache and nausea.

Thrombocytopenia: Is the fancy term for low platelet count.  Like anemia and low WBC count, one must know the reason for the low platelet count to make a treatment plan. Immune destruction, medication, infection, splenic enlargement and many other processes can lead to low platelets.

Depends on cause: Platelets help form clots. Low platelets are caused by lack of production or destruction. Immune-mediated thrombocytopenic purpura (itp), a condition where the body makes auto-antibodies against platelets, can be treated with medicines (ivig, win rho, sometimes steroids). If production is the problem, the cause needs to be found. Can be simply caused by a virus, or be as serious as leukemia.

Depends: There are many causes of low platelets including self: auto-immune (ITP), and exogenous such as drugs reactions, chemotherapy, etc. So, how to raise them depends on how they got low.
