Strep Infection: Your symptoms may be secondary to a Streptococcal infection with toxins going to your joints.  You need to be seen today for an evaluation as this can also cause kidney failure.

Dr. can check throat: Throat discomfort can be from a strep throat infection (antibiotics are needed), a cold or influenza (antibiotics usually not used), or from some other cause such as allergies or irritants. Usually, a person sees the doctor if the throat is bothersome, recurrent, or doesn't go away quickly (mainly to check for strep throat). Throat lozenges and Tylenol (acetaminophen) or Motrin can help decrease throat pain.

Not sure?: Mononucleosis? Strep throat?  I am not sure. For significant sore throat with swollen tonsils / lymph nodes –  see physician & get a strep throat test/ culture. If you have strep throat, antibiotic therapy is imperative to prevent future complications.

Viral infection is .: Acute viral upper respiratory infection is the most likely.
Alternate tylenol (acetaminophen) and ibuprofen for bodyaches and fever; gargle with warm salt water and drink plenty of fluids.  Rest.  Allow a total of 5-7 days to improvement.
