Get a check up !: Do you have fever, sweats , weight loss, itching?  Other symptoms or history? You need a good exam, lab tests, chest x-ray and possibly other tests . Soon.

hi i've been having chest pains. had a ct scan done and they found i had two swollen lymph nodes.  i have no other symptoms becides the chest pain.?

Quite a few causes: Chestwall itself, esophagus/stomache, lungs, heart, pancreas, and even liver problems can cause chest pain. In the young, more likely chestwall itself or reflux is causing pain. As we get older heart disease becomes more common cause of concern. Since u gave only limitted info, it is diiffult to tell what you have. Please repost a more specific question or consult your doc. Needs a medical chec: Any lump or growth in the body requires a medical check up in order to make sure that it is not a cancer. So I would advise you to get your father to go see his PCP for a medical check up and possibly some tests to define the nature of this mass.

Questions: Lots of questions to help figure this out. Where are the nodes, where was the melanoma, how deep was it and how was it treated? How long ago was the melanoma found? If the nodes are in the drainage basin of the primary melanoma, that is more cause for worry than if they are elsewhere.

Lymph nodes "taste" the lymph for anything bad  like bacteria/viruses/cancers, etc. When it detects a problem, it alerts the immune system and your body reacts.
