Not always bugs!: Several causes for "bug bites." detailed history (how, when, who else) and exam (what the lesion looks like, and what the rest of you looks like) is often needed to get to the correct answer. The most important thing to keep in mind, however, is that many if not most unknown "bug bites" turn out not to be bug bites. Bugs are often blamed incorrectly. Finding the bug on body or home is best clue!

Hard to say.: Any infection, scratch or irritation of the skin, or head and neck can cause the lymph nodes to enlarge. What matters is your other symptoms &amp; how long the lymph node stays enlarged.  Consider getting it checked now, so your doctor can check for the cause. When the cause is found and treated the lymph node goes down over the next several weeks. If it stays enlarged, other tests may need to be done

Reactive: The vast majority of swollen lymph nodes "react" to viral infections.  This is their job description.  They enlarge to help fight the infection. It it's larger than a marble or has been their for more than 2 weeks, have your doctor take a look at it.

Ignore it: Many guys your age have a few of these. If it's cancer, it would be stuck to the surrounding structures, or stony-hard, or become preposterously large, or be attended by fever / night sweats / weight loss.

Possible other dx: This potentially may represent a different and more complex situation. If no response from antibiotics and progressive you should see your doctor.

i am extremely worried it has been 1 year since i have had these swollen lymph nodes, they are less than 1cm and are in my lower jugular area and are 2cm above my collar bone they have stayed the same size, are these supraclavicular nodes?, worried?

Watch and wait: You may feel the nodes every couple of weeks, if any of the lymph glands doubles in size, becomes painful, ulcerates, or other nodes become enlarged, or you develop fever, or lose weight, you should see a doctor.
