Yes and no: Generics must contain the same active ingredient as the branded product, but other ingredients (fillers) or delivery system (capsule vs pill vs gelcap vs specialized release system) may be different. Generics from other countries may not be tested as thoroughly to make certain dose of active ingredient is consistent. Discuss concerns with fp/doc &/or pharmacist.

Not usually: Surmontil (trimipramine) is not a usual medication for hot flushes.  Ssri's such as prozac, paxil, and Lexapro are, though.  Effexor (venlafaxine) has also been shown to have effectiveness.

Supportive Treatment: Whenever someone intentionally or unintentionally overdoses with any medication, it is an emergency. The individual should be brought to the emergency room immediately. Life support measures are given as necessary. Side effects are treated and managed until they resolve. Then a psychiatric eval once medical stability achieved. If suicidal involuntary hospitalization. If accidental determine cause.

Many types...: Bronchodilators such as albuterol (Ventolin) or levalbuterol (Xopenex) enlarge the diameter of the airways to help air flow and mucus come out of the lungs. Patients with cough-variant asthma, exercise-induced asthma, or regular asthma also use steroid inhalers (such as Flovent) to reduce swelling, mucus, and "sensitivity" in the airways. Singulair is an another medication that can be used.

Approaching: depression wi multiple modalities is best. There are many
things you can do for depression.  Don't isolate. Spend time w people. Use your support system. Get out. Don’t stagnate at home. Work to get 8 hours or &gt; of sleep per night &amp; eat healthfully. Daily aerobic physical activity is a big +.  Recommend the “Feeling Good Book" by Dr. David Burns. Don't just read it - DO IT!
