Olfactory stim: Hormonal changes have been known to affect the sense of smell. Also, correction of sinusitis , congestion, or other conditions in the nasopharynx may seem to be enhancing the sense of smell. Certain drugs may do this, too, though usually alter the sense, rather than increase it.

Unpredictable: If pt. Stops the exposure and he is young chances may increase to recover. In general is better to thing that once smell is gone it is not coming back unless it is caused by a cold, or virus which is temporal. Confirm this with an ear nose throat specialist.

Likely yes: But, speed of return could be variable depending on whether the olfactory nerve has been damaged, and also, whether the chemical toxin has affected other organ systems.  A zinc supplement may assist recovery.  Discuss all of this with your doctor.

SUSPICIOUS: I am not sure what the dust has to do with the smell. Using nasal spray excessively is a very bad idea for the lining of the nose. Are you sure that you did not get the COVID virus?

in the last week my sense of smell has been overwhelming it almost makes me sick. if something smells i can feel a coating in the back of my throat to where i cough and my eyes feel weird like a coating as well. it makes me feel sick it is so strong.

This : This is probably a sign that you most likely have an infection or illness going on somewhere else in your body.  You need to have a medical evaluation and let your doctor know any symptoms that you are having, such as sinus symptoms, fever, cough, headache, vomiting, abdominal pain, or any other symptoms you have.  Also let your doctor know any medications and herbs that you are taking.

Ouch!: The symptoms you are experiencing are likely d/t the Progesterone- remember the breast swelling just before your period? Prog levels are highest then; and that is part of it's function, to also enrich the uterus to sustain pregnancy. First, let me empathize, my wife took Prog to maintain her pregnancy (our only one!) Also, you may get pregnant underneath this, so much the better! Good Luck!

: COVID-19 testing is recommended. Sinusitis may cause decreased smell and headaches. use nasal saline rinses as needed. The time to recovery of smell and taste post COVID is variable. Please follow up with an ENT specialist.

i was cleaning my bathroom and inhale toilet bowl and bleach. the smell was so strong i had to open the b/r door. i have nausea feeling, no shortness ?

Family practice : Although you can have those symptoms with certain inhalents , it usually is not long lasting unless you have multiple exposures. If symptoms persist contact your dr. You can always call poison control.
