It is... time to...: See a doctor.  Chest tightness, chest pain, and shortness of breath can be due to minor problems or to very serious ones. An E.R. doctor can check to see what might be going on. Sometimes, tests and chest x-rays will be done. Possible causes include angina or heart pain, partial pneumothorax (collapsed lung), asthma, reflux, heart arrhythmias, etc... One should not wait around with such symptoms.

Doubt it: Sudden events like that as a child, after which you were fine are not going to have hidden damage that appears years/decades later. If you are preoccupied with this health issue get a checkup. Once you are cleared medically consider finding a life coach to explore this health preoccupation. Sometimes they cover up a stress you cannot easily recognize or manage.

If so, please book an appointment with a Pulmonologist. If you did not require chest tubes, oxygen, ventilatory support of any kind, most likely there is no long term sequelae.

Do you have any history of lung disease? Is it triggered by stress or anxiety?
