kidney stone attack sunday. hospital did not strain urine. i have no more pain so i may have passed it. ct reveals i have several more in both kidneys. is there a way to tell stone type without having actual sample so i know how to treat?

Not reliable test: Stone analysis is still the standard.  Of course, blood tests and 24 hour urine test will guide the urolodist

Stones: No, stones do not affect urine production.  However increasing your fluid intake and increasing your urine production can help prevent stones from forming and help pass stones that you may have.

Abdominal pain: One may experience vague abdominal discomfort which may progress to being more persistent. Kidney stones are evaluated with urine tests, ultrasound or ct scan. Stones can be a breeding ground for recurring infections.

Save "speck": The black "specks" could be small blood clots or pieces of stone. It would help if you save one of these to have these tested.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex, if you have sex.

i had blood in my urine could it be that i'm taking calcium? i also had pain on my right upper back i was told it was kidney stone. is this true?

Is that so?: If an imaging study was performed that showed you have a kidney stone, then that's probably why you have the blood in your urine. If there's no imaging study, you don't know if it's a kidney stone or not, and getting imaged would probably be worthwhile. Why are you taking calcium? I can't recommend it as a general 'women's health' measure especially if there's a question of nephrolithiasis.

Unrelated: What you are seeing is likely normal. Passing foamy urine now and then is normal, for the speed of urination and other factors can influence this. But you should see your doctor if you have persistently foamy urine that becomes more noticeable over time. This can be a sign of protein in your urine (proteinuria), which requires further evaluation.

ANS: it is never normal to have blood in your urine. How do you know it is from the stones? Make a note of the bleeding in the urine. Is it at the start of peeing only, throughout peeing. Clots in urine? Pain? Please let your Dr. know.

i had a kidney stones removal procedure for and a touch was inserted, and after about two months suddenly having blood in the urine. what happened?

Urologist has answer: Many things could have happened. Maybe another stone, maybe an infection, etc. However, regardless of the possible cause, you need to go back straight to the urologist. The urologist will be the only one who will be able to figure this out. Best wishes, ariel.
