Left sided pain: Diaphragm irritation can be causes by problems with stomach, spleen or colon in that area.  Commonly would refer pain to ribs and shoulder.  Should have this examined for cause.

Likely not ur heart: Given the description of your symptoms this is unlikely to be heart related pain. If it hurts more with sitting try pressing on the area while laying down and see if it is tender. If the bone is tender and it hurts to breathe, you most likely are suffering from costochondritis, which is a benign inflammation of the ribs. You can treat it by taking Ibuprofen with meals.

Medication: There are good medications to control vomiting and nausea. You should see a physician if you are unable to keep fluids down. They can then investigate what is causing the vomiting and treat it appropriately.

laying down on my stomach, it feels  swollen and hard just below my sternum. i also have what feels like a  knot underneath my left ribcage. any ideas?

Xyphoid process: There is a nub of a bone just below the sternum ( breastbone) called the xyphoid process that most people don't know they have. It sticks out a bit  and you may  only notice it when you are laying on your stomach.  The knot under your left rib cage may be the end of your 11th rib. Another possiblity is something called a lipoma which is really just a hardend peice of fat. No worries.

See your doctor: This is something that needs to be evaluated.  There are a number of things this could be, some more worrisome than others.  Don't put it off any longer.  Find a physician in your area.

Good and bad: List of possiblitlies is very long: if liver disease would consider ascites as serious condidtion needed semi-urgent medical evaluation.  If you have nausea and vomiting obstruction is most likely and ED is advisable.  However most likley related to normal cycle of eating and GI losses and conservative measures with over the counter treatments for constipation.
