It could be serious: The symptoms you are describing could be an infection in the spine. You need to be evaluated as soon as possible as it could be life threatening.

Stiff neck headache: Get in to see a dr if you can.  Majority of the time your dr can tell if this is something serious or not by taking a good history and exam.  Maybe cervicogenic, vertebral aneurysm, tension, aseptic meningitis, some serious &amp; some not so serious.  Sprain of the muscles of the back of the slap if you slept funny.  Hard to know. If light sensitivity, nausea, vomiting, worsening, headache, go in asap

Could be many things: If you're prone to migraine, that could actually be a migraine prodrome. Alternatively, viral infections (flu, stomach cold, etc) commonly give aseptic meningitis - not life threatening, but painful head & neck ache. Lastly, tension-type headaches often present that way. See your neurologist to make sure it isn't anything serious.

Prob not meningitis: It is a good idea to have him checked out.  It is not common that meningitis occurs without a fever.  Was there an injury to his neck?  Do certain movements aggravate it?  Does he show any other symptoms of an illness?  If no, he should be ok.

Usually...: Usually the symptoms of meningoencephalitis caused by N.fowleri occur between 5-7 days after exposure but are usually significant for high fever, headaches, nausea, vomiting, light sensitivity, and in severe cases with seizures and confusion as well.

Those: Symptoms do not mean meningitis. You have to rule it out by running tests including spinal fluid. I think it is more posture related like you said from your line of work or staying in the computer too long. Always see  your doctor if condition worsened.Relax and get enough sleep 8 hours at least!

ER or Doctor ASAP: headache and stiff neck raises possibility of meningitis. Even if it is unlikely, it is MANDATORY to have it excluded by a physician, either a pediatrician in an office or at the emergency room.

Meningitis: From what you describe, meninigitis is very unlikely.  This is usually accompanied by headache, fever, photo and phonophobia, nausea and vomiting, neck stiffness as determined by a trained observer, alterations in sensorium and neurological function and other signs and symptoms.  Since cannot diagnose over the internet if you remain concerned please go and see a doctor.
