Not necessarily: First you must define "right away". As an example if you got a primary syphilitic chancre (which is painless) in an area of the tongue not easily accessible to observation you might miss it. There are other possibilities but not enuf space here to explore all STDs. Be careful. It is dangerous out there.

More info needed: What are feeling or seeing on your tongue? If you haven't recently given oral sex to someone, probably not an STD. You'll need to see a doctor -- if you're having painful sores, sore throat, or fever, see someone ASAP (even on a Sunday). Otherwise, your PCP. If you need to keep confidential from parents, try local health department or Planned Parenthood; or get advice from your school nurse.

We would need a dialog as well(i.e. Does your boyfriend smoke?)  the best thing to do is to let a dental professional like a an oral surgeon or general dentist look at area( or an ent) to make sure there isn't a problem.
