Accepted Answer

Yes: If two people are kissing, they will share whatever bacteria are in their mouths and throats. For bacteria like the strep throat bacteria, the well person will usually get sick after catching strep from the sick one. With staph bacteria, the well person may not get sick because staph doesn't cause oral infections in everyone.

Abx ointment: The first question is whether or not it is truly a staph infection. There are many skin lesions that can occur around the mouth some of which are bacterial some of which can be viral and some of which due to fungus. If it is a bacterial, staph infection then polysporin (bacitracin and polymyxin) or Bacitracin ointment can be helpful.

Depends on burden: Depends on any number of factors.  Yes.  It is possible.  I would avoid putting hands in mouth in general and if necessary to do so, I would highly recommend appropriately washing hands prior.

Surface only: Hibiclens will kill staph bacteria on the surface of the skin - but any infection involving tissue below the surface needs a systemic (oral or injectable) antibiotic.

Draining is good: If it is draining then that is a step in the right direction. However, this material should be cultured to determine the best medical treatment (i.E is this MRSA or not). It is also possible that this lesion needs to be opened up more to completely drain. See your doctor to determine how involved your treatment should be.

Staph infection: It depends on where the infection is, how severe it is and what are the characteristics of the organism. Basically it is a bad idea because the organism needs to be cultured.  Internal systemic antibiotics many be needed. In the wilderness, collodial silver might help topically as well as otc antiseptics and antimicrobial ointments. However it is prudent to see a doctor for a staph infection.

Vaginal flora: Staph is a normal colonizing agent of the skin and external vaginal mucosa.  If there is a break in the skin or a hair follicle or gland (e.g.: bartholins gland) becomes inflamed these can  become infected with staphylococcal organisms.

As long as you are: CLEANING...and are under TREATMENT for your Staph infection .you can (in my opinion) continue to do that assignment!
