Good source: : Protein, calcium and non-dairy, for people with lactose-intolerance.  It's a nice alternative to cow's milk.  If you have a soy allergy, then not good, but otherwise, no 'bad' effects from soy milk.

Maybe: There is some evidence that soy products will increase estrogen levels and possible decrease your testosterone levels.  There are phytoestrogens in Soy.  The peer reviewed evidence is not strong and I've seen arguments for health benefits and for health concerns.  From what I've read it probably decreases your testosterone slightly.

Very unlikely: Normal quantities of soy should not affect the sex drive of a healthy young man.

Food allergy: Food allergy is defined by a reprodicible symptom that occurs after eating it; if any food seems to cause repeated symptoms, avoidance is the only answer. The presence of allergic antibody (ige) to a food, noted by blood testiing or skin testing alone does not prove allergy.

im trying to lose weight so im changing the way i eat but i've heard stay away from dairy? what about almond/soy milk? & other healthy foods?

Nutrient dense foods: Eat foods that are nutrient dense (like meat, fish, poultry, eggs, cheese, low starch vegatables and water) avoid foods that are not nutrient dense (like starches and sugars, including fruit)
nutrient dense foods will increase your basal metabolic rate. On the other hand, starches and sugars impair thyroid metabolism via affects on your liver (which helps activate thyroid hormone).

Soy milk: Soy milk is constipating. Increase fruits and vegetables, nuts, figs, and dates. Increas high fiber cereals and decrease milk and milk products.

can soy  milk, licorice , or yams or any other type of food or bevarage make birth control less effective everywhere i read it's diff nd it scares me?

Accepted Answer

No: None of the items that you mentioned can affect the efficacy of birth control pills.  The only antibiotic that can affect is Rifampin.  There are a lot of wive's tales out there.... so beware.  Most important is to take the birth control pill at the same time and not to miss a day.

No specific foods: No specific  foods heal ulcers but eating a bland diet can prevent worsening.  Peppermint can increase acid reflux. Soy milk can worsen symptoms if you are sensitive to soy.  If you are having active rectal bleeding you need to be evaluated immediately.  Go to the ER

infant constipation. we have tried prune juice oatmeal and soy milk and nothing is working. can we use a stool softener and what foods to avoid.

Natural plugs: Apple sauce, bananas & rice cereal are the main constipators in most infants. Peaches, pears, plums & barley cereal are usually helpful in loosening them.Prune or apple juice(regular adult, not dilute baby) given in amounts of 1-2 ounces 1-2 x/day for a minimum of 3 days will usually loosen a kid.Good luck.

Not Good at All : There is nothing good about soy milk. It causes homonal disturbances, negatively affects your thyroid and blocks the absorption of vital minerals 
drink water.
