Sore breasts: Answer: too much estrogen.  Can come from a number of sources:
- oral contraceptives that are too high in synthetic estrogens. 
- not enough progesterone
- too much hormone replacement therapy 
- excess fat and "aromitization" of testosterone in your fat cells. 
- some sort of cancer or tumor. 
- fibrocystic breast disease.

If in doubt, go to a physician for exam and/or get mammogram.

Take a test: There is no need to guess whether or not you are pregnant. If you think you might be pregnant check then check a home pregnancy test. They are cheap, reliable and available  at any pharmacy. Constipation can treated with over the counter products like Miralax (polyethylene glycol).

Maybe a week: Breast tenderness typically occurs between the time of ovulation and onset of menstrual period.  However, most women experience pain during the last few days before the onset of menstrual period.

Not on pill : PMS occurs when the hormone levels fall right before your period. Since your on the pill and in the middle of the pack your hormone levels will be stable. PMS does not apply to this situation

Common, normal.: While premenstrual symptoms can be uncomfortable, they are very very common and reflect normal reproductive hormone cycles.  If your PMS is disrupting your life, you should make an appointment with your gyno.  Sometimes oral contraceptives can mitigate this problem.  Meanwhile, be reassured that you have normal menstrual cycles &amp; most likely normal fertility.

For you: These are normal pms symptoms, but if you are 42 years old and aren't familiar with these symptoms in your cycle it could be something else. You could be pregnant if you've had sex. It could be something else entirely. Get it checked out if you're concerned or it seems unusual (just to be safe). Best wishes.

Could be either: There is a lot of overlap between premenstrual symptoms and early pregnancy symptoms. Even light bleeding around the time of an expected period can occur with pregnancy. A home pregnancy test and/or a blood test at your doctors office may help clear things up. After testing, if you are pregnant or still have unexplained symptoms consult your doctor.
