Picking at nails: to the point of bleeding and &quot;can&#x27;t stop&quot; MAY be a form of OCD.  Please start by talking w/your doc and then seeing a mental health professional.  Peace and good health.  Do you also count things excessively or have to perform certain behaviors or rituals to feel safe or ward off danger?

Closer to the heart: Fingers are closer to the heart than toes are, and therefore they get a quicker and higher blood flow than the toes.  Fingernails take an average of 6-8 months to outgrow while toenails take an average of 8-10 months.

Melanonychia: This is usually a benign condition called melanonychia. Next time you visit your Dr ask him/her to look at it to verify. This is pretty common in people with more melanin in their skin (i.e. Fitzpatrick scale 5-6).  If the nails are getting thicker or yellow this could also be due to a fungal infection (onychomycoses).  Neither of these conditions are dangerous, but the latter should be treated.

Damage to nail root: Previous injury to the nail root will cause portions of the nail plate to be thinner and weaker is one reason, and damage to the nail root and plate from fungal infection are two likely ways this happened to you. There are several treatments that may help.

It is very difficult to say what is causing the bumps on your arms and thighs
