Ring worm: The Rash  is either numular eczema or ring worm.   You can try to treat ring worm by using an OTC ointment for fungi and yeast.    Tinactin (tolnaftate) or lotrmin are examples.    Use this 2-3 times a day for two weeks and it should fade.   The ointment will help the eczema so you are treating both.  But the eczema will return because it needs longer treatment.  For eczema try hydrocortisone ointment as above

Children skin rash: It is difficult to make a diagnosis for skin rash without a picture. Generally a skin rash with no fever is more benign than one with fever which could indicate invasive bacterial infection. The timing is also important. Is the rash followed a recent illness? Is there any other symtoms like itching, oozing? Is there any history of travel or contact with foreign substances ( poison oaks e.g).

DERMATITIS: Can it be atopic dermatitis?  Can the child be having allergies like the dad? Please see md for evaluation of the rash.

Individual choice: Reusable diapers work for some, but after a while you can never get the pee smell out of them and if there is no local diaper service you must work to deal with the mess.Today's disposables vary in cost and technology with a few kids allergic to components in some brands. Most are quite good and contain drying agents that pull moisture away from the skin, reducing the rash potential.

Mosquito bites: That's what mosquito's do - cause those huge local reactions, and in a rare person, even more widespread reactions. If i get a mosquito bite on my leg, it will often swell to the size of a small cup saucer. It's due to histamine release locally. Sometimes cool compresses to the area are helpful, but for such a large reaction, topical anti-itch meds probably won't do much. Could try oral benadryl, (diphenhydramine) .

Enterovirus?: I think you meant to say "enterovirus" We are having an especially high number of hospitalizations this season in children.  It presents as a very intense cold, fever, sometimes headache and sore throat.  The hospitalizations are mostly related to severe respiratory illness,  so watch for shortness of breath, wheezing, difficulty breathing, fast breathing.  The rash does not look like acne.

Retinoids?: Retinoids may decrease the oiliness of your skin but you should first see a dermatologist to discuss this therapy as well as other causes for your symptoms which may not be related

Requires direct exam: and observation/evaluation of the skin lesions. Allergy testing would be a good idea.

Likely viral: sounds like a post viral rash. If rash worsens or does not away in the next few days, better to run it by their pediatrician. No specific treatment necessary if no symptoms
