i had a corneal abrasion 3 days ago. i went to the ophthalmologist and was given tobradex and systane eye drops.

i use medical marijuana regularly and want to know if it will negatively impact the healing process. how long should i wait to use m.j.?

No direct effect: If the use of marijuana impairs your ability to use your eye drops, healing might be negatively effected.  In addition, the use of marijuana may decrease your blink frequency, also slowing healing. You may return to MJ use keeping these things in mind.

please explain if it is true that picking the pimples in your face can damage your skin and also slows down the healing process?

Accepted Answer

Acne: Yes, the physical trauma of picking a pimple may lead to scarring. At the very least the picking/squeezing creates more irritation and inflammation that aggravates acne and slows healing.  See a dermatologist for diagnosis and treatment.

what can i do to help speed up the healing process of my skin?

Accepted Answer

Wounds vary: Localized small wounds can be rinsed with sterile saline and dressed with a topical antibiotic ointment and covered with a sterile dressing. Deeper more involved wounds with extending redness past the immediate margins will likely require a more aggressive approach such as incision and drainage, or debridement, and possible oral antibiotics. Consult with your physician to see what is best for your.

i got a deep scrape/cut 7 days ago. there is some blueish grey skin and the side with the discolored skin seems to be developing a hard edge. is this part of healing process? have kept covered with bandaid and vaseline since initial injury?

: Your description of the wound still requires at least a topical antibiotic.  If not an oral antibiotic being a deep wound. Keeping wound clean, topical antibiotic and covered. Should allow proper healing.  If redness, pain develop see your doctor.

Retinoic acid: Retinoic acid can be very helpful but you need an exam by a doctor first.

Squeezing Too Hard!!: The yellow fluid is likely serum and yellow color bruising. Sounds like you are injuring your skin in the process of decompressing your black head. Try a warm washcloth to soft the blackhead. If you have many recurrent blackheads, consider seeking a professional for help.

can savlon cream be used on open boils? can they speed up the healing process once applied directly to the open skin?

Savlon: Savlon is an anti-microbial cream containing 2 different chemicals. It may be used on common topical wounds. If your boil does not improve in 2-3 days, check with you health care provider for other treatment options.

can you reactivate a cold sore by using lipstick, on the 11th day of the healing process where the skin was already flaking?

Accepted Answer

No: Lipstick never reactivates cold sores. Inflammation involving thymidine kinase triggers replication of the virus with recurrent symptoms. This may be a fever, friction, sunburn, others. Oral valacyclovir and acyclovir are very effective if used at prodrome [onset of symptoms].

if a rash starts to dry up and peel dead skin, is it in the healing process? also,it was inflated,  now its back to normal, but liquid coming out?

Sounds like healing: For some rashes, the skin peels as it worsens.  If yours was red and inflamed and now is not red and inflamed, then I'd suspect its improving.  It is important that the draining liquid is clear, which would be expected.  Consider keeping it clean, blot dry after washing and then cover.  You could add some petroleum to keep bandage from sticking.

i've been using epiduo for a week now, my skin is darker, it's peeling and very dry, is it part of the healing process?  and can i apply sun screen?
