Possible, but why?: It is not commonly done to put fluids into an arterial line, that usually is used for pressure monitoring and to obtain blood for testing. Could be done on a pump in theory. Usually would use a peripheral or central venous line to transfuse. Neonates may be only accessible vessel due to small size.

These occur when there are important incompatibilities between your blood type and the type you have been given.

Most common serious problem is lung damage.  A few others exist.  Risk of any infection is extremely low.

It could: Severe mr with turbulent flow can cause hemolysis of rbcs. Although a transfusion will top you off it won't solve the underlying problem.

Anemia: We can classify anemia as mild, moderate, &amp; severe. Low RBC counts &amp; the notion of death puts us in the severe range. Usually people with cancer, radiation treatments, trauma victims in shock, and severely malnourished folks are in this category. Unless that describes your situation then, you have time to get to a doctor to work your symptoms out which could be related to anemia or other things.

Its not the "culprit: Transfusion "reactions" are usually immediate or within hours NOT days. Your symptoms are unrelated to the transfusion.

No: Blood cells transferred to your child during a transfusion wear out & are disposed of within 3 months, usually less. There are no cells that could change your childs bone marrow into producing sickle cells. That information passes in the dna at conception, without it in the dna your child  won't ever make sickle cells. It is not like an infection.

First : First you need your eye doctor to see why you are getting red--is it the lens fit, allergies, or dryness?  Treating the correct issue will solve the problem rather than hiding it with get the red out drops which simply cause rebound redness a few hours after use.
