Agent Orange: No. The Agent Orange (a herbicide/dioxin) could theoretically cause genetic damage in humans. However, there is no specific  'test' as such that ties a given genetic abnormality to your father's exposure.

how bad is having plasmacytoma in the lungs and can it be linked to agent orange exposure?

Accepted Answer

Compared to what?: It's a blood cancer and that's serious - but a plasmacytoma is perhaps as good as it can be. It is a single, localized tumor of malignant plasma cells.  If no more are found or suspected, tx with radiation is often sufficient. Unlike multiple myeloma (automatically attributed to agent orange exposure) this may require a va decision, but many cases are recognized for benefits. Thx 4 your service!

No: An isolated ulnar neuropathy is generally secondary to cubital tunnel compression at the elbow and is not related to agent orange exposure. Acute orange exposure is associated with numerous malignancies.

Accepted Answer

: The Veterans Administration Disability Administration which has studied and follows this issue for decades does not list Colon Cancer as linked to Agent Orange exposure. There are genetic and other factors at play, but no link to this one yet found.

Accepted Answer

No: Probably not. It is remotely possible if the father was exposed. But, more than likely, not if the grandfather. "learning disorders" in most, but not all, cases, are hard to define, and are usually not caused by one factor, but by many.

Not likely.: The Institute of Medicine publishes a biennial report on the Agent Orange issue.  There is limited but suggestive evidence of an association with diabetes (10% of the population has DM and very very few of them were ever exposed to AO) and no proposed evidence linking UCTD to paternal dioxin exposure.

It's a combination of 2 herbicides, and one of them is currently being considered for use on commercial agriculture (2-4D). It was developed in the 1940s and used widely in the 1960s-1970s. There are many adverse health effects.
