Caution please: Many diseases can be spread this way such as Hantavirus Pulmonary Syndrome, Hemorrhagic Fever with Renal Syndrome, and Lassa Fever. Direct person to person spread of these diseases is possible. Please advise your boyfriend to get a professional exterminator help him get rid of the rodent. And I suggest you both have general medical exams at a clinic. I wish you well with your health!

Not contagiously: Using smokeless tobacco has no effect on the contagious potential of "swapping saliva". If you mean by "sick' the feeling of nausea, that is another story and a matter of personal taste and sensitivity. If by refusing to kiss someone who chews or "dips' they might  consider dicontinuation of the habit then you have done them a great service.

my boyfriend got viral pneumonia. he got it after having the flu (he didn't get a flu shot). he says he has been taking antibiotics for nine days. i got a flu shot. how likely am i to get sick from kissing him now?

Viral flu.: antibiotics will not help viral pneumonia. I would say the likelyhood is not zero but not great either. Time will tell.

Depends on..: How many people are you kissing!  if many people simultaneously, then you area "player" and feel bad about yourself, ie. Not really caring about the peole you are engaging in lip-sex.  You may be frightened of catching something.  Many reasons.  But this should not be a problem in a trusting caring relationship. If it is, you then need to talk with a therapist!

With what?: What are you afraid of? This is not a risky behavior. You have a small risk every time you take a breath. "Sick" with what? You need to live in the real world. Certain infections, say ebola or tuberculosis, call for special; precautions. Otherwise you are exposed to many viruses and other infections every day. Normal immunity protects you from most things.

Probably not: Usually shouldn't transfer same germs - esp if dog isn't sick (if it was only a vomit bc of eating a wrong thing).  I would swish with LIsterine and brush my teeth really well! ;)

I : I do not know if he is still contagious at this time. Mononucleosis (the kissing disease)  is spread when the epstein-barr virus is passed from one person to another, usually through saliva.  The incubation period (before full symptoms appear) is usually about four to eight weeks. The most contagious period is when the person is actively sick and for about six weeks after the person's symptoms stop. However, the virus can still be found in saliva for several months in some cases.  I donâ€™t mean to scare you, but one study indicated that a person who no longer has symptoms might still be contagious 18 months later.
