Unadvised but possib: Getting another CT scan is 99% likely to give the same picture as the 1st, barring an obvious problem (like the machine broke down, which they would have informed you at the site). Not sure what the nuclear stress test (cardiac?) or the CT scan (brain?) was for, but at this point, another modality is more likely to provide information than repeating the same test. Yes: But MRI is more sensitive than ct  for early detection of the lesions. Multiple scelerosis is one of the demyelinating diseases. Cervical spine region is one of the earliest area where the disease lesions are localized by MRI nicely. Hence for the initial diagnosis of ms it is always good to order MRI cervical spine in addn. To MRI brain. Once the dz is established plaques(scelerosis)appear in  ct.

Yes: Depending on the type of meningocele it will show up on a ct scan.  Some occur in the head and others in the low back.

Major abnormalities: Ct is typically used in the acute setting to look for blood.  It can also show major abnormalities such as masses and edema from large strokes.  Ct is the best exam for looking at skull fractures and usually partially shows the bones of the sinuses and face.

Not sure: Ct with and without xray dye is a good test for some kidney problems.  Not sure what you mean by thickening.  Ct shows kidney stones, masses, kidney size/location ; can give a good idea of whether the kidneys are working well.  Ct is also good at showing the site of blockage of urine flow, when present.

Accepted Answer

Many things.: It can detect many conditions. Ct is particulaly good at detecting bleeding in the acute setting and hydrocephalus, and some masses. It's not nearly as good as MRI for looking at small structures and white matter disease. Both ct and MRI are usually more sensetive and specific when contrast is given.

10 mSv: A CT scan of the abdomen (belly) and pelvis exposes a person to about 10 mSv; this goes up to 20 mSv if the test is done twice (once with and once without contrast).
