when taking an initial bite of something delicious i get this deep sharp pain under tongue both sides, like my saliva glands have gone into overdrive. had it on and off since being a child. does everyone get this? it goes away after a while of eating?

: Suspect your salivary glands are just squirting out salvia and pressure might be building up at that time. Keep diary and discuss with your Dr.

Try This: Sounds like a spasm of a jaw muscle. If it hasn't relaxed on its own try this:                     Make a fist with your right hand fingers pointing up and toward your face. Grasp your right wrist with your left hand. Place the fist under your jaw. Now while pressing upward, attempt to open your mouth against your fist. After a few moments see if the spasm has eased.if no improvement see your DDS.

Could be...: ...traumatic lesion, scratch, cut, blocked salivary duct, or one of dozens of other causes.  If you smoke or abuse alcohol the problem may be even more serious.  You need to be physically examined, palpated, and possibly x-rayed.  Please see your Dentist or an Oral Surgeon.
