i am getting an extremely sharp pain on the right side if my throat when i yawn.  it feels like something is tearing it is that painful.  any ideas?

TMJ: you might be having subluxation of your TMJ  i will avoid strong yawning because you might cause a complete dislocation and it can be a source of headache so go and see your doctor for proper evaluation and assurance or possible treatment good luck

Temporomandibular : Temporomandibular disorder arises when the TM joint, bones and muscles around them are affected. Symptoms usually are pain in the jaw and TM joint area especially with the opening/closing movement of the joint. Commonly precipitated by injury or tension in the surrounding muscle by teeth clenching kind of movements. Dentist take care of these problems; get it checked out.

Doctor can evaluate: Chest pain is often a sign to go to an E.R. if one's doctor is not readily available. Chest pain symptoms can be a heart attack. One should not drive herself (safer to go by ambulance). If she turns out not to have heart attack symptoms, the E.R. will also have evaluated for problems such as a collapsed lung, a pneumonia, or stomach reflux. A chest x-ray, EKG, and labs can be done quickly there.
