Lvh: Sounds like you had a nuclear stress with a small anterior perfusion defect )not uncommon especially in people with more breast tissue).  Cardiologist should clarify whenever possible & many newer nuke cameras are capable of attenuation correction which aids in caricaturing.  Image interpretation is highly subjective.  Lvh is hypertrophy of the left ventricle.  Seek further evaluation antreatment.

why does only left-sided heart failure cause pulmonary edema?

Backup: Failure of either heart is akin to an accident on the highway. The traffic will backup on the road segments ahead of the accident. In left heart failure, the lungs are the segment of "road" immediately preceding the failed heart. In right heart failure, the liver is immediately upstream, and the lungs are in fact downstream.

Cardiac workup: You may not have had a heart attack but still could be having heart pains due to a severely constricted coronary artery. Would talk to your docs about having a stress scan, or ct angiogram which can diagnose blockages that haven't yet caused a heart attack but are possibly causing your pains which may be warnings of an impending heart attack.

: This probably won’t do anything positive for someone having a heart attack. In that situation, emergency services must be called as soon as possible to begin life saving medical treatment.

Yes, possible: Depending on the cause of your enlarged heart, if they underlying abnormality is corrected, then yes the heart can go back to normal size with correct medicines, espeiclly in a young person. For instance, tachycardic cardiomyopathy due to atrial fibrillation can be reversed.  Control heart rate, take ACE inhib, betablocker, and I have seen complete resolution. See a cardiologist. make sure TSH nl.

Rarely,: Usually it is CHF that causes pulmonary edema due to back up.

In most cases: the doctor has to find happy medium, but they should be giving diuretics and other meds to get fluid off, plus sometimes heart medicine.  Some fluid may be given, depends on condition, but usually limited

Backwards: Pulmonary edema doesn't cause heart failure, it is one symptom of heart failure (although other things can cause pulmonary edema as well).

Diuretics/others: Diuretics help to clear the lungs of fluid. Ace inhibitors, angiotensin receptor blockers, and beta blockers help to prevent recurrences of heart failure. Certain types of pacemakers may also help.
