Gerd: This could be gastro esophageal reflux disease. A person with a history of heartburn may have this and acid from the stomach irritates the throat.

Viral or bacterial: Throat infections can cause an enlarged and painful uvula. An inspection and possibly a culture is appropriate. Viral URI needs symptomatic rx but strep throat would require antibiotic coverage to avoid future kidney and/or heart complications.

i have yellow top palate towards back of mouth with cold/burning on off sore throat sensation. does not hurt to swallow food.some mucus of a morning. ?

Throat burning: Most likely either postnasal drip or reflux. Consider  elevating the head of bed, zyrtec (cetirizine) before bedtime to decrease discharge, check for allergens . Treatment of reflux with either PPIs ( omeprazole) or H2 blockers ( ranitidine). For reflux avoid alcohol, smoking, caffeine, spicy foods. f/u wiht doctor

Possibly: Only way to truly know if you have strep is get your throat swabbed and cultured by physician or nurse. Can go to primary care or urgent care. Could be viral sore throat (pharyngitis) which is more common than strep. Rest, drink lots and gargle with salt water. Ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain.

i have had reflux and been on meds for about a month. have had intermittent burning in throat and intermittent upper tummy burning. last few days have had tightness in throat, sore throat and hurts to swallow. ?

Dr. can check throat: New throat pain can be from a strep throat infection (antibiotics are needed), a cold or influenza (antibiotics usually not used), or from some other cause such as allergies or irritants. Usually, a person sees the doctor if the sore throat is bothersome, recurrent, or doesn't go away quickly (mainly to check for strep throat). Throat lozenges or Tylenol (acetaminophen) may help decrease symptoms.

occasional burning and (persistent) sticky throat after swallowing own sperm. can you be allergic to your own semen/sperm? i've used post nasal drip and plenty of water to no avail. throat just seems sticky?

Sore throat: if you're sore throat has persisted more than a month I would certainly have a throat specialist examine your throat and possibly take a culture
