Wear sunglasses and : protect your eyes! You only have two of them for life. Get excellent quality ones to block dangerous UV Rays out. Your eyes are worth it. They weren't designed to take wear and glare!

Dry eye: Dry eye  can cause many symptoms, and they can come and go.

Afterimage: This color is generated by the retina as it changes the level of current sent to the brain with the change of light signal.

when i go outside in bright sunlight, it takes my eyes  5 or 6 minutes inside to get to normal vision-i can see clearly, but it seems like it's darker?

It takes time: Some people can have trouble adjusting from light to dark conditions or vice versa.  If your vision is otherwise normal, it is probably not a serious condition.  There is a group of rare retinal conditions, however, that can present with similar problems that can lead to decreased vision.  In order to determine if you may have one of these rare conditions, you need to have a dilated eye exam.

Two types of haloes.: The classic symptom of colored haloes around lights occurs due to corneal edema, often associated with acute angle closure glaucoma. Otherwise, white haloes around lights are usually caused by a refractive error, but any corneal surface irregularity, including dry eyes, can cause the symptom. Artificial tears are an easy treatment, and many medications, especially anxiolytics, can cause dryness.

Migraine: You probably have experienced an occipital migraine.  This is a benign issue affecting the circulation to the occipital lobe which might have been triggered by staring at the light.  These events go away quickly and cause no change in the eye vision or health.

i have a bad cold. when i cough in the dark, i see bright, jagged lights. whether my eyes are open or closed. is this normal.

Cough and cold: When you cough, the force of the cough is transmitted to your head and your eyes.  This causes the vitreous gel inside the eye to move, or jiggle back and forth, causing vitreous traction, and hence...Jagged lights.

If this occurs when you are not coughing, or if the lights persist, then call your local eye doctor for an appointment.

In the meantime, drink lots of chicken soup and rest...

i randomly see bright yellow/white lines or dots appear from the sides of my eyes and come towards the middle. i see fine though what can it be?

Have this evaluated: While it is likely that what you are experiencing is a variant of migraine, if this is of recent onset, or striking, or accompanied by many floaters or diminution of vision.- you should then see your ophthalmologist soon to rule out retinal detachment.
