Dandruff shampoo: I have seen simple, over-the-counter dandruff shampoo (containing zinc parathion) applied daily prior to showering work well. Let it be the last thing you rinse off at the end of your shower. It seems to help reduce flaking in a lot of my patients. If you are unsure of the diagnosis then certainly seek a dermatologist's opinion.

Non-cancerous growth: Seborrheic keratosis is a noncancerous (benign) wart-like growth on the surface of the skin. It is common after age 40 and is of unknown cause, but it may run in families. It often is found on the face, neck, chest and back, and may become irritated or unsightly. It can be removed surgically or by freezing.  If there is any question as to the diagnosis, a biopsy can be done.
