Painful: Laser treatment of warts is through it's high energy and burning mechanism.  It also targets the blood vessels that feed the wart, thought to contribute to its efficacy.  Your doctor may sometimes inject anesthetic into the area before the treatment to reduce the pain.

Because warts are : viruses I typically do not recommend excision, as they can recur even after cleared with any treatment. I prefer the armamentarium of treatments we as dermatologist have to treat them, with the most stubborn warts responding to intralesional Bleomycin

Wart treatment: If you go to your doctor, he/ she may freeze the wart with liquid nitrogen. A blister will form around the wart and the dead tissue will fall off after a week. Other medications, such as cantharidin, bleomycin and Aldara (imiquimod) can be injected into the wart. Another alternative treatment would be minor surgery, where the wart is cut away or laser surgery where the laser beam burns and destroy wart tissue.

Several: But most common is excision and fulguration of internal condyloma using either electric cautery or laser.

No: Warts of viral infections. To destroy the wart, you must destroy/remove layers of your skin which contain the virus.  However, it will try to regrow as you treat, so the key is to be persistent with your treatment, be it laser, liquid nitrogen, cantharin, or candida antigen application by your doctor (sometimes every other week), or self treatments with otc salicylic acids.

Anal surgery: Anal warts are common - caused by hpv virus which many people have. They are not dangerous, but are contagious and should be removed. 
If only a few are present inside the anus, a doctor can burn or freeze them in the office with only a scope and local anesthesia. However, if many are present, a trip to operating room is needed. Eventually, all will be destroyed and you'll be ok.
