how can i avoid dry scaly skin on my feet:  could it be athletes' foot?

Urea Creams: To keep your feet moisturezed use a good urea type cream like lac hydrin or am lactin. It is best to apply them after bath or shower when the skin is hydrated. Athletes foot would cause severe dry cracked skin and redness on the bottom and sides of the foot. If this is the case you should see a podiatrist for treatment.

Foot skin: You may have a fungus on your foot.  Fungi love dark damp places so air and light is good.  Please see your doctor.  He/she can diagnose and treat easily.  Peace and good health.

Itching: can be a symptom in both athletes feet and eczema.  Most Podiatrists can tell the difference on first glance, however if there is a question about it a skin biopsy can be taken.  Most important is to get an accurate diagnosis or the proper treatment to prevent spreading and to prevent infection.

Few causes. : Most common causes are rheumatoid nodules and nodules related to thickening of the fascia.  However if you are talking about the numerous little globules  all over your feet that are seen with stretching of the skin and sometimes feel like bumps - those are normal but i'll be darned if i know what to call them.

Foot doctor: Foot doctors or podiatrists specialize in treatment of the feet. It may be that the dry hard skin needs to be removed. Then topical use of a mositurizer will prevent reoccurance.

Foot pain: You may have a couple issues here.  White numb toes could be a sign of poor blood flow to your feet.  This would cause pain as well.  There is also a condition called post herpetic neuralgia which is a painful condition caused from the virus which gave you shingles.  I would recommend evaluation by your primary care physician.

Get it checked: out by your doctor as soon as you can for proper diagnosis and treatment.  It is unusual to have purple discoloration and changes in sensation in your feet unless the infection is located in that area.  It's also important to make sure you are on the correct antibiotic.

Hands and feet sympt: These symptoms may be due to an allergic reaction or the viral infection know as hand,foot and mouth disease which is more common and a more serious illness in children. At this time take an antihistamine, rest and take in adequate fluids. See your physician if symptoms worsen instead of improving.  Try to determine whether anything you ate or took could have triggered an allergic reaction
