is sarna lotion a over the counter cream and is it known to be fairly effective for shingles itch?

Shingles itch: It can help but is most helpful for poison ivy.  It will still help with the symptoms of the itch.  You may also want to try acyclovir ointment on the areas.  Good luck and feel better!

Yes: Sulfate and sulfa are as different as cat and lobster.  I know of no one who is allergic to sulfate.

Unusual reaction : It is just a mosturizer.  You might be allergic, a different story.

Sunblock for babies: There are sunblocks that do not have any chemical sunscreens but only have physical ones, like very tiny particles of zinc or titanium.  Sunscreens without chemicals tend to irritate sensitive skin much less than chemical sunblocks.  Two such sunscreens are cotz by fallene and pure and free baby by neutrogena.  Both of these do have preservatives so they are not completely chemical-free.

Ingredients...: ...in the cream cheese. Check the label. You could be allergic to one of them. Difficult to pinpoint which one. You may benefit from visiting an allergist to determine what other foods to which you may be allergic.

Food allergies: Food allergy is a sticky subject, with different doctors having different tests, giving you different opinions. There is no perfect test. But no, there are no creams or home remedies that I am aware of. The treatment is avoidance of the offending food, with injectable Epinephrine if you have a history of anaphylaxis after eating a particular food.

Corn allergy: the corn grain is the biggest pollen particle in the plant kingdom, so it cannot be inhaled, rather ingested and some people do have allergy to corn when ingested in any form. See an allergist for evaluation/confirmation, avoid corn for now, check aaaai.org or acaai.org for an allergist in your area, best wishes

Topical hydrocortiso: This is called allergic contact dermatitis which can usually be controlled with topical steroid cream.  Avoidance of other lotions/cream containing the allergen is the key.

Accepted Answer

As little as possibl: The weakest one that works. Topical steroids decrease inflammation but do not cure, therefore they need to usually be reused. Local and possible systemic side effects are related to strength and amount.  Additionally certain part of integument (skin) are moore sensitive, such as the face and vulvar areas. So use the lowest potency, least amount for shortest duration possible.
