have hashimotos and am a smoker. been on the pill for 6 years. 5 days ago and while on my last monthly pill, some brownish discharge (later ruby red) started that has been continuing up to now. been experiencing tiredness and mood swings,can i be pg?

Unlikely, but...: It can be hard to tell if a woman is pregnant because some of the symptoms seen in early pregnancy can also happen in non-pregnant women.  A home urine pregnancy test gives a reliable result by 3 weeks after sex (3 weeks after when conception might have occurred), or 1 week after missing a withdrawal period.  An Ob-Gyn doctor can evaluate any persistent or worrisome symptoms.

Doctor can help...: A  grade-school child with a new illness and fever, usually has an infection. Depending on the baseline condition and past illnesses of the child, his parents can decide when to see the doctor. Normal, healthy kids with new fevers can usually do ok on tylenol (acetaminophen) or Motrin until seeing the doctor the next day. The doctor may give phone advice. Serious or worrisome symptoms can mean a trip to the E.R.

Likely irritation: Your skin likely has a topical reaction to the exposure; possibly, rubbing sand irritated your skin. Try topical Hydrocortisone cream 1% 2-3 times a day for a few days. 
If there is redness and swelling, there might have been an exposure triggering an allergic reaction. In this case, try benedryl 50mg every 6 hr for 1-2 days.
If it continues or is problematic, call your md.

Depends on rules: For younger children especially, rules need to be firm and easy-to-understand, and always enforced if you expect to teach it. A good rule: "no hitting" (you know exactly when that rule is broken, and can enforce it.) a vague, hard to enforce rule like "don't squirm at the table" is going to be difficult to define and enforce, so it won't work on a young child.
