Depends: It depends on the reason why you are taking the calcium replacement.  If you don't have bone problems (osteopenia/osteoporosis) or hypoparathyroidism (chronically low calcium on blood test) then you don't need to take calcium supplement and should get it from food such as dairy products.  If you have the above conditions, then calcium suplements (at the recommended dose) + food are perfectly safe.

Ca Supplementation: Virtually any calcium supplement will be safe.  Your allergy to shellfish is to a protein in the muscle known as tropomyosin and if this is not usually an ingredient found in vitamin supplements.

C4: C4 is a supplement mixture with no data to support its use. Multivites, fish oil and calcium supplements have at least some reason to think they will be a positive action. I personally wouldn't recommend taking C4 but have no more data support not recommending it than there is to say it is beneficial.  Eat a good diet and have a good exercise program, the supplements might or might not help.

Depends: We do not recommend calcium supplementation for the heck of supplementing.  We always prefer you to get your calcium from your food.  However, in men who has osteoporosis or osteopenia, calcium supplementation + vitamin d is appropriate and recommended.

Any: Any sort of calcium supplement is fine. Citracal is a opopular brand. Viactiv is even chocolate flavored! there are many over the counter options and all are good. Also consider a  multivitamin because it will also serve as a supplement for other vitamins.

None: Given recent studies showing increased risk of calcification of blood vessels due to oral calcium supplements, i recommend against them.  Get calcium from foods which are not believed to contribute to calcification such as tofu, salmon, and low-fat no sugar added yogurt.
