Pain control: Chronic pain will lead to insomnia and depression. The key is pain control. The usual pain killers and the commonly used morphine derivatives are not going to do it. You need special medications for neuropathic pain. There are effective strategies that can make your condition better and restore quality of life. Talk to a competent pain specialist.

You could try: You could try it. I am not aware of any good studies on acupuncture for rsd/crps but i cannot think of any harm from it although if you have a limb that is swollen, i would not advise putting acupuncture needles in that limb because of potential risk for infection. Check with your doctor first before trying other treatments like acupuncture.

Clearly has happened: CRPS, previously termed reflex sympathetic dystrophy, emerges rarely after trauma, and needs to be diagnosed efficiently.  Your burning pain could reflect a peripheral nerve injury, or even a small fracture, and this also needs clarification.  To start the process, see a neurologist or a physiatrist.  You may require a triple phase bone scan, a QSART study, or thermogram to clarify.  Good luck.

Therapy, symp blocks: Rsd is treated with desensitization physical therapy.  Sympathetic blocks may help treat the disease earlier on in its course but must be done with the therapy.  Medication can help the symptoms.  Dorsal column stimulation has also been shown to be beneficial... You need to see a physician who can treat this disease for you and the sooner the better.  I hope you find some relief.
