Common triggers are exercise, sun and wind exposure, hot weather, stress, spicy foods, alcohol, and hot baths. Swings in temperature from hot to cold or cold to hot can also cause a flare.

Flush : Some patients are predisposed to flushing and  blushing especially those with fair skin.  Rosacea patients also frequently flush and blush in addition to getting pimples on the central part of the face.

No: Rosacea and acne are different disorders.  Acne is a follicular disease characterized by increase oil gland production, colonization of p.Acnes bacteria, resulting in pustules and white or black heads. Rosacea is not follicle based, and is associated with increased demodex (mite) colonization, triggered by sun, heat, alcohol, caffiene, etc... One can have both conditions at the same time.

Not likely: Rosacea is usually caused by or aggravated by sun or wind exposure, spices, and alcohol. Metabolic acidosis is not usually a cause, but I don't know whether it would aggravate it. A dermatologist is best qualified to answer your question and treat rosacea.

No: Some foods can make the face flush. Alcohol. Hot drinks such as tea or coffee steaming. High capsaicin foods such as jalapeno peppers. But they are not the cause of rosacea.

Anxiety: In stressful situations its not uncommon to have a red face or blush. If your worried about it, it exacerbates the situation. If you adopt an attitude of who cares, it will occur less frequently. Chances are, you care more than others anyways!

Pulsed Dye Laser: Pulsed dye laser is an excellent choice for the treatment of facial rosacea.  The treatment is very effective and is not painful.  It has very little downtime and is done in the office.  This should be combined with sun protection.  In my opinion, the syneron/candela v-beam perfecta laser is the best pdl.  This laser also provides improvement in pore size, wrinkles and some pigment.
