Hardly  ever: Apply to scalp. Measured amount. No need for shower cap. A few people get local reaction, but I have never seen it. Helps some women keep more hair if used religiously twice a day for years. Generic 2% minoxidil is about as good as any other form and costs $4 a month.

Safe alternatives: Propecia (finasteride) is a DHT blocker, but the rate of side effects is very low. If you have't noticed any side effects after 11 months, it's unlikely you'll experience any. Rogaine (minoxidil) applied topically has few side effects other than scalp irritation,

Only crown: Rogaine (minoxidil) is indicated for hair regrowth in the crown area.  It won't start hair growth is areas where  it is not currently  growing like your face.  Give it time the hair will grow on your face and then over time you will get tired of having to shave!

Start treatment now: for what may be early male baldness.  You will have much better results by using minoxidil now. Hair loss at an early age can be devastating to your self-esteem, and the longer you wait the harder it is to gain the lost hair back. Some formulations of Rogaine can cause scalp itching, so try foam if that's a problem. It is not approved for beard growth, but some men on YouTube have tried it.
