Rotator cuff problem: Such as impingement may cause pain with these movements although other parts of the shoulder and back may cause similar pain.  A doctor examination would be a good start and if remains unclear they could order tests

: If pain is exacerbated with arm and shoulder movement, muscle strain or spasm is likely the cause. If pain is increased with cough, deep breathing or sneeze, radiculopathy due to poor posture during sleep or after lifting a heavy object. If pain seems not changed with body position but lancinating or shooting to the front, shingles can be the culprit so watch the area for rash next 1-2 days.

Muscle Pain: There are some muscles that attach right on the shoulder blade called the rhomboid muscles and you may have strained one of those at the attachment. Usually we use these muscles when our arm is above our shoulder so perhaps some activity strained this. If pain doesn't resolve over next seven days or so you should get checked as sometimes the lungs can cause pain around the shoulder blade.

Maybe muscle spasm: Your neck and upper back muscles on that side could be in spasm -especially if your ability to turn your head has decreased. You can try gentle stretches, ibuprofen/Advil 400-600 (with food) every 4-6 hours for any inflammation, and warm compress to loosen the spasm or ice if you have sustained an injury to that area. Would also see your doctor if symptoms do not improve in the next day or two.

Pain: Pain below the shoulder is very likely muscular. It is possible you may have a pulled muscle causing sharp pain. However, at your age there are several other possibilities such as shingles. Please see your doctor for proper evaluation. Also, note any other symptoms such as shortness of breath, sweating, burning pain etc.

Just a though: You might have your GALLBLADDER examined! Pain from that are can "radiate" to the area you describe!
