Treatment is individualized but usually includes anticoagulation and restoration of normal conduction.

A person with af may be unaware, aware, or very bothered. If other risk factors are present, the risk of blood clots and stroke may be increased. Treatment involves rate control, anticoagulation, and restoration of normal rhythm - all individualized for each pt, .

No: But it will not help improve the scar. Keep it lubricated with whatever you have. Vaseline is as good as anything. Don't fall for the hype: that's all it is.

ASD: ASD is a congenital (present since birth) heart defect in which the wall that separates the 2 upper chambers (atria) is perforated allowing the abnormal mixing of oxygenated and un-oxygenated blood. If large enough, it can lead to rhythm disturbances and heart failure but if small, no treatment is necessary. Echo and MRI are very accurate in assessing the severity. It is correctable/curable.

can amlodipine besylate cause any problems for someone who has occassional episodes of atrial tacky?  is it a safe drug?

No: Amlodipine doesn't affect the heart rate in any way. So it won't slow down your heart rate. It won't make the tachycardia worse either. However, it won't be treatment for it.
There are some other medications for hypertension that can control tachycardia as well. Those will have to be evaluated by your provider to determine if they are appropriate for you.

Maybe and no: I'm not a pediatric cardiologist and can't tell you definitively if they are the "commonest" problems in infants but, for sure, they're not nearly the commonest problem in patients with diabetes (whom i see everyday). Remember, newborns normally have patent foramen ovale which closes shortly (but may be delayed) after birth.

Yes, it's a problem: Assuming you have a normal heart rate, your APCs are &gt;10% of your total heart beats. That can cause your heart muscle to weaken and increases your risk of atrial fibrillation. You need a full evaluation for any treatable cause and your heart rate should be assessed to be sure it's well controlled to avoid injury.  Is your sleep apnea treated? CPAP may help your arrhythmia if you haven't tried it.

Depends: What risk factors do you have.  Do you have endocrine problems?  Do you have diabetes, thyroid problems?  All these must be checked.

Not likely: An atrial septal defect is a hole in the wall dividing the upper chambers of the heart. It is a fairly common diagnosis, about 4 per 10, 000 live births. These often will close on their own by school age. If not, they are very easily repaired with minimally-invasive techniques. A pediatric cardiologist will need to follow them till the hole closes either naturally or surgically.

i wake up at night with atrial fibrillation for which i have been taking 100mg daily. this problem occurred after an armed break in at night. i have been taking another 100mg but i am now getting chest pain. i can take tambocor 100mg?

PTDS: Please consult with psychologist.  it sounds like you are having post-traumatic disorder, medications alone wont  help much. you need to talk it out what happened during that break in and deal with it step by step.
