Kerosene: When I was a child, my mom used kerosene on my head to kill (suffocate) the lice. I survived and it worked. Whether you should use it or not, I don't know. Definitely, not recommended in the US, but in Europe it's used as a home remedy.

Keep in mind that there is resistance to this type of drugs, thus follow up with pcp is important.

Many people use olive oil and a shower cap over night rather than the rid shampoo because rid is so strong. Basically, shampoo your hair and do  not reapply the rid or whichever brand you used for at least a week.

i have bugs in my hair but i havent had them since i took a lice treatment and their not lice because their bigger... what could they be?

Not sure: But if can capture one of them in a plastic zip-loc bag get thee to an entomologist and he will be able to identify it fairly quickly. Once you know that treatment should be straight forward.
