cracking/popping of my sternum/ribs ever since it popped/cracked a week ago. should i be worried?

Rib pain: Need to know what happen to your sternum; what evaluation was done (exam, x rays etc); what medication were given etc.; what is your medical history. Ribs fractures are notorious for having lots of pain (maily sharp) which is frustrating. Fracture could take 6 weeks to heal. However, the best way to help is to see your doctor and make sure recovery is going well and nothing new develops.

i have been coughing so hard my lowest rib on the left side keeps popping in and out.  the pain is un bearable. what should i do?

Exam: It is possible to break a rib from coughing.  You can also have several lung problems that can cause similar pain.  It would be best to have an exam done, particularly if the pain is severe and/or you are short of breath.

: This is likely musculoskeletal but I am not sure what you mean by “I went into shock”. What were you doing when this happened? Cartilage/ligament : It's usually the border of the cartilage and bone. They run together and can cause a popping sensation. It can happen also between the rib spaces if fluid gets trapped in the ligaments between the ribs.

when i lay on my side a certain way my rib cage overlaps, you can actually hear this happening with a popping noise. is this normal?

It can be: If you have inflamation of the cartilage that connects the sternum or breastbone to the ribs. Or you might have a fracture, but usually these things are very painful. You are still growing, so that might be your explanation. If you are having pain, or it's sufficiently bothersome, seeing your family doctor would be the best way to find out what the problem is and how to deal with it. Best wishes!

since having my son, i can push one of my bottom ribs in a tiny bit and then it pops out. it sounds like a popping noise.no pain.what is this?

Floating rib: You are possibly pushing on your bottom rib, a so-called floating rib. Because it is not directly anchored to the breastbone it sometimes can be more mobile than your other ribs.

please i need an answer, does liver popping noises when touching or pushing under rib?there is no pain at all but something moveable under right rib

?  floating rib: The lower ribs can be "floating" in not being attached to the sternum(breast  bone) like the upper and middle ribs and can be made to "pop" if pushed just the right way.  Another cause could be a traumatic separation of a rib that is normally attached to the lower sternum by cartilage and moved back and forth.  This could have happened long ago and the fall forgotten. If it bothers, see your doc!

hello, 7months i've had a soft bulge under my lower left rib, some pain when pressing & there is like a popping sensation (like a jar lid) any idea?

Needs to be checked: We can not tell you what it could be without examination.It may be a cyst,a hematoma,a tumor.I suggest you have it checked by your GP,as it is of concern to you

No worries: Simply some inflammation (costochondritis) that will resolve with time. You can help it along the way with a little anti-inflammatory medication.
